Charlotte Hill is a composer, choir director and music educationalist. Born in London, she gained a scholarship to study composition, bassoon and piano at the Junior Department of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Charlotte continued her studies in composition and piano at the Royal College of Music and went on to study for a MMus in composition with Edward Gregson at Goldsmith’s College.
Charlotte is a respected music educator, lecturing in Music Education at the Faculty of Education, University of Cambridge from 2004 to 2018. Charlotte became an ABRSM examiner in 2007 and receives regular invitations to adjudicate at music festivals and other competitive events. An experienced choir trainer, Charlotte directs local choirs, and provides inset training and workshops to schools and other groups.
As a composer, Charlotte receives regular commissions from a range of sources and has composed a wide variety of vocal, choral and instrumental music for performances both locally and further afield. She is also a prolific arranger of music for amateur choirs, much of which is sung by the choirs she directs locally.
